So We Marched on DC... Now What?
The march was amazing, motivating and energizing! So what do we do to keep affecting change and keep up the energy and motivation?
For our part, Virginia Peninsula NOW proposes a two part plan:
1) Keep track of what our elected officials are doing on the local, state and national levels, and hold them accountable for their actions and votes.
2) Support and/or create programs which make the Peninsula a safer and more just place for women and their families; identify problems and find viable solutions.
We must come to terms with the fact that Donald Trump didn’t invent sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia or Islamaphobia. These things were pre-existing conditions in our society. They are pervasive and happening right here at home. We respond by digging in to our community!
If you are looking for the next local step in the national women's movement, please bring your passion, skills and ideas to our next meeting, and let’s show the Peninsula what a fierce group of women can accomplish!
We are not alone, and we are far from powerless!
